Story of a Great Idea...

Once upon a time, there lived a couple and their young son, H.

H was 3 but he was quick to tell you that he was really 3 and a half!  The couple was very proud of their boy.  He was sweet and smart and liked to learn new things.  One day, the couple decided it was time for H to learn to dress himself.  They started by teaching him to put on pants, then his shirt.  And last but not least, they tried to teach him how to put on socks.

First, they showed him the sock opening.  Then they showed him the heel and the toe, and explained how the sock fits over his foot.  But OY VEY!  When H couldn't do it himself, he got frustrated and gave up.

Every morning, the couple would try together and seperately to teach H how to put on his socks, but he did not even want to try.  That made the couple feel frustrated too.  What could they do?  Then it came - they had a GREAT IDEA!  Let's figure out a way to make putting on socks FUN!

They added loops to help H pull the socks on and drew a cute doggie face so he would know which was was up.  The next morning, they showed the sock to H who couldn't wait to try it on.  It was so easy for H! The couple decided to share their great idea with friends and family. The rest, as they say, is history.

We hope this story helps you in your own attempts to teach your children new things.  Figure out ways to make lessons for your child into games you can play and enjoy together.  Good luck and let us know about your GREAT IDEAS!
